BiographySon of a Corning Glass Works scientist, Littleton studied physics and industrial design before becoming a teaching ceramicist. In the late 1950s, he turned to glassblowing, and created a studio glass program in 1963 at the art school of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, which is considered the first college-level course offered in the United States in that discipline.
