George Curtis

Painter. Portraits, landscapes, seascapes.
George Curtis lived first in Boston and then in New York, exhibiting in Boston in the 1840s. A retrospective of his work was held at the Babcock Galleries, New York, in 1996. In his seascapes he aimed above all to catch the light reflections on the water and in the sky, especially at sunrise and sunset. He also painted a number of portraits. ["CURTIS, George."
