Label TextIncorporating fabricated and industrial objects, Carol Bove’s Horse Lover is part of a series of large-scale “collage sculptures.” To create these abstract assemblages, Bove combines found scrap metal and square tubing that is crushed and shaped in her studio.

Challenging our notions about the heaviness of metal, the sculpture appears lightweight, flexible, and spontaneous. Notice the relationship between the scarred texture of the scrap metal and the clean, green-painted steel spine that binds the elements together. Sited among the trees, Horse Lover invites us to consider the architecture and balance of the natural world.
