Label TextSan Ildefonso Pueblo artist Awa Tsireh was an accomplished painter, metalsmith, and muralist. He achieved great success in his career, participating in notable national, and even international, exhibitions. In much of his work, including this painting, Tsireh omitted any background setting so that the dancers float on the page. The decorative details of his work reference both Pueblo pottery motifs and the popular Art Deco style of the time.
