Label TextDale Chihuly’s artistic vision is centered on color, form and light. His lifelong interest in architecture and gardens is evident in the iconic glass sculptures he has become known for.

Sole d’Oro or “Golden Sun,” contains more than 1,300 hand-blown pieces of glass and weighs over 5,000 pounds. “What makes The Sun work for me is the massing of color,” said Chihuly. For this sculpture, which was created for Crystal Bridges, the artist chose a subtle, yet brilliant palette of gold- and clear glass forms to capture and reflect the natural light of the Ozark forest.
