Label TextGino Severini was a significant figure in the Italian Futurist movement, which celebrated the technology, speed, and energy of modern life. Rather than concentrating on the technological aspect in this piece, Severini focused on family dynamics. With his Cubism-inspired flair, he portrays a woman tenderly holding a child. The subject reflects Severini’s family experience. His wife gave birth to their daughter Gina in 1915.
