Label TextIn Trophies of the Hunt, a set of moose antlers serve as a rack for two firearms. Perhaps the guns were used to hunt the two long-plumed Mongolian pheasants that hang in the center. This painting reflects the growing popularity of hunting as a leisure activity of wealthy men. As more Americans became “citified,” there was a fear that urban life was a threat to masculinity.
