Early on, he invented paints by mixing sugar water, syrup, or soft drinks with mud and color made from weeds, berries, and vegetables like turnip greens. His imaginative works garnered regional and national attention, and in 1980 he appeared on The Today Show and 60 Minutes. Later in life, Sudduth turned to acrylic paints and sponge brushes, creating until his death at age 97.
Jimmy Lee Sudduth fue un artista autodidacta de Fayette, Alabama. Al principio, inventó pinturas mezclando agua azucarada, jarabe o refrescos con lodo y colorantes elaborados a base de hierbas, bayas y verduras como las hojas de nabo. Sus imaginativas obras llamaron la atención a nivel regional y nacional, y en 1980 apareció en los programas The Today Show y 60 Minutes. Más tarde, Sudduth comenzó a utilizar pinturas acrílicas y pinceles de esponja, y siguió creando hasta su muerte a los 97 años.
