Chinese, born 1989
BiographyBorn in 1989, Beijing, China, living and working in Pittsburgh PA. Susu began painting at the Central Academy of Arts & Design, Beijing, at the age of 12. In 2011, Susu received a full scholarship to attend graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, where she completed her MFA in 2015 and is currently working as a guest professor. In the past three years, Susu was honored to receive three nominations including the Pittsburgh’s Emerging Artist of the Year Award, 2017; the Eben Demarest Trust Award, 2018; and the Joan Mitchell Foundation award, 2019. Her paintings were featured in publications such as ARTPULSE Magazine (2018) and JUXTAPOZ (2018). Susu has shown both nationally and internationally, her work has been presented in solo exhibitions at the Bunker Project, Unsmoked System, and the David b. Smith Gallery. Susu has had notably exhibited at Chautauqua Institution of Art, NY, The 25th anniversary of the Andy Warhol Museum, the FaceBook AI research and innovation Center, and The Momentary Museum.
