Label TextThis scene is meant to transport you. Seen from a distance, the falling snow provides a gentle, atmospheric haze to the forest – a bit of movement in otherwise dormant woods. But witnessed up close, the meticulous application of each speck of snow appears as a static, deliberate dot. Painted at a massive scale, Welliver wanted to immerse viewers in a likeness of the natural world that he came to love while living in Maine. By capturing this memory in paint, Welliver offers a gentle reminder that he has forever frozen in time an otherwise fleeting moment of beauty.
