Label TextGeorge Luks featured children in his paintings and drawings throughout his career. Here, a young boy and girl appear in a corner of an art gallery. The boy may be from a working class family, as implied by his outfit, which is likely his “Sunday best,” while the girl’s red dress and matching hat reflects a higher social class. Despite their different backgrounds, the children seem to be sharing a secret, perhaps something mischievous, as the boy’s smirk might suggest.
