Her shins, feet, and stomach recede into the middle ground on either side, while her chest, head, and left arm gradually move further back, leaving only her right arm splayed into the deep background. At first glance this work appears simple and well executed. However, with every gradual descent into deeper space, Andrew Wyeth is resolving both perspective and proportion to make the woman’s figure appear believable.
