Not on viewLabel TextThis print depicts everyday life on a typical Harlem street. Jacob Lawrence portrayed his community using bold colors and a modernist style. To me, these bold colors reflect the people's high spirits and the sense of unity they felt. Lawrence was influenced by the Harlem art scene. Deepy tethered to the area, he became a visual storyteller for the neighborhood. Here, the artist shows appreciation for the community that nurtured and supported him.
