Label TextNicholas Galanin pairs a deer hide with a panel shaped and painted according to a digitized image of the deer hide. The digital conversion uses a small set of samples or points, resulting in distinctly less information. Galanin’s deer hide and its digital replica express the types of conversion that nearly all Indigenous people in the Americas have faced due to European colonization and settlement.
