Label TextBuffalo hunts, both imagined and observed, were a popular subject for Native and European artists for more than a century beginning in the early 1800s. Primarily associated with Plains Indian cultures, Arizona artist Beatien Yazz did not witness any buffalo hunts in person, but rather imagined this dynamic scene of three hunters on horseback riding downhill, in a landscape rendered with muted yellow lines and small tufts of pastel green grass.
